| On April 29, 1901, Richard McIntyre White was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Richard grew up spending many hours at his father's musical instrument manufacturing factory, The H. N. White company. In 1922, Richard graduated from the Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio. Richard worked diligently in the company and held several important positions. In 1937, Richard opened the H. N. White Company store of Abilene, Texas at 810 Hickory. The store sold the complete line of H. N. White King Band Instruments and completed instrument repairs. On February 15,1941, Richard's son, Richard M. White Jr. was born. Due to the takeover of the H. N. White company of Cleveland in 1941 by Edna White, in 1944 Richard's Abilene store was renamed the H. N. White company of Abilene, Texas. In 1947 Richard's store was again renamed, the Richard M. White Music company of Abilene, Texas. The store no longer carried King band instruments but sold pianos, organs, and radio phonographs. The store was located at 357 Cypress, Abilene, Texas. In 1952, Richard sold his music store business to the Denham Music Company. Richard managed the store for the new owners until their staff could handle operations. In 1954, Richard, his wife Elanore and sons moved to Carmel, California. On May 7, 1955, Richard like his Father Henderson, died at his residence of cardiac arrest. The White family is survived by Richard M. White Jr, Anthony White and Philip White. |
